As a “born digital” museum, a museum founded directly on the web, it embraces the open-platform model.
It is a platform museum, because cultural contents are not only transmitted from curators to the public, but they are created involving the public.
It is multi-platform because besides the website, there are other several ways to access DOLOM.IT. The museum space embraces both physical and virtual dimensions, including a collaborative website, interactive social media platforms and the development of multimedia applications to explore the landscape thanks to AR technology.
It is a open archive, because it gives access to the digital cultural heritage of the cultural institutions of the territory: the multiple typology of the museums involved (Modern Art, History, Design, Archeology, Ethnography) promotes an interdisciplinary approach to digital resources
The first edition – started in 2016 from Belluno – involved 200 students from 9 high schools from all over the province. Each class – guided by a team of museum educators and digital heritage researchers – developed its own digital project on the website using the MOVIO Content Management System.
Their digital projects take into account both the tangible components of cultural heritage, explored during physical visits to museums and archives, and the intangible ones, represented by oral testimonies, popular sayings, knowledge and skills throughout the area, all elements that tell us about the close relationship between man and the landscape.
